Play-Based Learning

Play-based learning helps children and families connect and learn with confidence.

Imagine your child’s wonder as they pop bubbles, squish clay, dance to their favorite song, or fit pieces together in a puzzle. They are learning so much through play!

I help young children with diverse abilities, families, and classmates connect joyfully and learn cooperatively through play.

Play-based learning builds on children’s interests and strengths and teaches important skills with imagination including:

• Social skills through games of sharing ZINGO, Yeti in My Spaghetti interviews, and Friends and Neighbors

• Flexibility and problem-solving through games of Kerplunk, Hungry Hippos, and Elephant’s Trunk

• Language through dramatizing stories and hide and seek

• Math skills through cooking, treasure maps, and obstacles courses

• Sight words with Star Wars, slingshots, and trampolines

Play-based learning maximizes success at school and therapy by bringing goals and strategies to life at home. The consistency and confidence your child needs start with play!

Parent Coaching

Parent coaching gives you the confidence to be the parent you want to be.

Parenting is a learning journey, and I am here to meet you where you are, build on your strengths, and coach you to success on your terms.

Parent coaching gives you a deeper understanding of your child’s development, behavior, and learning and helps you parent with purpose to:

• Establish loving limits and healthy boundaries

• Communicate clear and consistent expectations

• Build connection to support learning and positive behavior

• Follow through with appropriate support and accountability

• Manage mealtime meltdowns, bedtime battles, and more

Parent coaching can support you in navigating assessment and intervention for children with diverse abilities. You are not alone, and you have the power to be a champion for your child.

Developmental support empowers parents and helps children reach their greatest potential.

I support early communication and development in young children with diverse abilities and help their parents build connection, support communication, and enrich learning.

• The Hanen Centre® SPARK Communication™ approach teaches you interaction strategies to accelerate your child’s early language development.

• The Hanen Centre® 4Is to Socialize approach teaches you strategies to support engagement and communication with children with autism or social communication differences.

• DIR Floortime is a developmental therapeutic intervention that helps you support your child’s self-regulation, engagement, communication, and problem-solving in learning and relationships.

Early communication and developmental support help you build connection, support communication, and enrich learning so you feel confident as your child’s first teacher.

Inclusion support helps young children of all abilities experience success.

I support inclusion working one-on-one with children who need extra support. My unique approach to inclusion helps children, their teachers, and their peers experience success.

I help children with diverse abilities:

• Build relationships with teachers and peers

• Understand and follow directions

• Participate meaningfully in activities

• Transition smoothly

• Learn skills and build confidence

I build on children’s strengths to support relationships, and I use a toolbox of strategies including visuals, sensory input, movement, modeling, adaptations of activities, and more to make teaching and learning successful.
