Play-based Learning

Children learn and thrive through play. Rebecca A. Weiner, M.Ed. cultivates children’s skills and confidence through active and social play-based learning. She builds on children’s interests and strengths to customize games, stories, songs, and more that support learning goals, positive behavior, and social skills. Rebecca also collaborates with pediatric therapists to incorporate strategies to promote learning and therapeutic success. 

Rebecca has customized learning to teach sight words through Star Wars and slingshots, positive behavior through limit-setting and stories, and social skills through cooperative games and role-playing. She loves igniting language through story and drama and practicing motor skills through movement and dance. 

For each play-based learning session, families receive a personalized summary of learning, strategies for success, and carry-over activities. Play-based learning sessions take place in family’s homes, at schools, and out in the community. From family playrooms to community parks to grocery stores, Rebecca maximizes the learning potential of any setting!

Parent Coaching

Behavior is communication, and Rebecca A. Weiner, M.Ed. speaks children’s language. She helps parents of young children understand the WHY behind behavior and HOW to prevent behavior, redirect, and reconnect. Rebecca empowers parents to establish clear expectations, provide supportive limits, and follow through consistently.

Parent coaching is tailored to the unique needs of each family. With extensive education, experience, and expertise in early childhood special education, Rebecca supports families of all abilities including those with developmental delays and those going through the assessment, referral, and intervention processes.

Each parent coaching session, whether in person or by phone, includes goal setting, immediate and long-term action steps, and strategies for success for prevention of challenging behavior, redirection to appropriate behavior, and reconnection in relationships.

Classroom observation

Rebecca A. Weiner, M.Ed. helps families understand challenges and opportunities young children face in school and what supports are appropriate. She partners with families and collaborates with schools and therapists to promote success for children of diverse abilities in the classroom and beyond.

Rebecca visits schools to observe learning and relationships with teachers and peers in the classroom and beyond. She shares observations, reflections, and recommendations based on her education, experience, and expertise in early childhood education. Rebecca empowers children, their families, and their schools with specific strategies to address challenges and support learning, positive behavior, and social skills success at school.

Inclusion Support

Inclusion is equity of opportunity for children of diverse abilities to learn, play, and grow together with their peers. Rebecca supports inclusion by providing one on one support and small group enrichment at school. 

While supporting inclusion, Rebecca helps students participate in learning and play with teachers and peers. She is there to help with understanding and following directions, accessing and engaging in learning, responding to and establishing peer interaction, strategic intervention for behavior, and increasing independence. Rebecca utilizes a toolbox of strategies including visual supports, sensory input, bridging language and play with peers, movement breaks, and modifications of learning tasks to promote learning, positive behavior, and social skills success in the classroom and beyond.
